Since its first meetings in 1926, Bradford Movie Makers club has worked with local amateur filmmakers, supporting them through their cinematic endeavours, but also providing a support network in times of loneliness, hardship and bereavement. With the club struggling to survive, it’s appearance as subject of Kim Hopkins’ acclaimed new documentary A Bunch of Amateurs has come just at the right time. The club has been profiled on BBC Breakfast and Radio 4 and received so many visitors that its website crashed, while Baz Luhrmann has declared himself a fan and asked to meet the group.
