‘Surf Ghana is a voice of diversity which pushes a narrative of freedom and self-expression creating a counter-culture a platform for the youth.’ The extreme sports collective – which also encompasses the Skate Gal project – is working from the fact that life expectancy in Ghana is just 63 (versus 81 in Europe), and using surfing on Africa’s Atlantic coast to build a healthier generation. With the construction of a skate park, a platform for music and artists and one eye on entry for the skate categories at Paris ‘24 the collective is tirelessly building ‘an ecosystem which could benefit sport athletes – and Ghana as a tourist destination.’
