In the spirit of optimism, we present 21 good-news stories from one of the worst years in living memory. Newspaper headlines this year were dominated by COVID-19, but buried among them were uplifting stories of achievement for science, medicine, sustainability, and human equality.
The World Health Organisation guidelines for coping with COVID-19 recommend that individuals, “find opportunities to amplify positive and hopeful stories.”
21 Silver Linings collects some of these optimistic news stories, covering culture, politics, science, the arts and business. We want to use 21 Silver Linings to express our own philosophy of working to create a legacy built on optimism, and to celebrate all the beneficial changes that have come about this year. We hope that other people will enjoy reading and sharing these stories.
