Ukrainian clean-up group Repair Together are combining raves with reconstruction

Ukrainian activist group Repair Together aren’t waiting for the Russian invasion of their country to end before rebuilding. The community of ravers, DJs and volunteers in the Chernihiv region have staged a series of impromptu restoration events where mobile soundsystems have soundtracked sessions clearing rubble, fixing homes and building new ones. The local community were joined by volunteers from Kyiv and Lviv, as well as arrivals from Portugal and the United States. ‘At a certain point, we felt volunteering should become a lifestyle for our generation,’ said organiser Dmytro Kyrpa. ‘Because we love raves and electronic music, we felt it was a fitting and necessary combination.’
